On the edge of a national forest, close to marshes and a bird sanctuary, and just 1,500 m. from a fine sandy beach, Domaine de l’Orée will provide ample opportunities for an active holiday whether in the impressive pool complex, using the many sports facilities, venturing out onto the network of footpaths and cycle tracks or just going to the beach. The 51 touring pitches are level and separated by bushes; all have electricity (10A, Europlug), 40 also have a water tap and drainage and ten have their own private toilet and fridge. The remaining 200 pitches are occupied by chalets and mobile homes, many available for rent.

Even in low season, the site is alive and welcoming, with a small, well-stocked shop, a pleasant bar/restaurant and takeaway service operating from 1 May until the end of the season. In July and August there is a full programme of activities for children and the whole family, including evening entertainment. There are no charges for use of any facilities or for the loan of equipment. A shuttle bus runs to the beach in high season and there are occasional buses to fashionable Les Sables d’Olonne with its fine sandy beach and its wide range of shops, bars and restaurants, and, in the other direction, along the coast to the lively fishing port of Saint Gilles.

Facilities

Two blocks providing adequate sanitary facilities are of traditional design with British style WCs, good, hot showers (preset) and washbasins in cabins. Baby bath. Basic accessible facilities. Washing machines, dryers and ironing facilities. Small, well stocked shop (1/7-29/8). Bar with TV, snack bar and takeaway (all season). Heated outdoor swimming pool and fun pool with slides (1/5-13/9) plus heated indoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi, sauna and excellent children’s pool (all season). Fitness equipment. Play areas. Trampolines. Tennis (free). Bicycle hire. WiFi throughout (charged). Gas barbecues only permitted.

Location

Olonne-sur-Mer is 5 km. north of Les Sables-d’Olonne. Site is on D80 coast road between Olonne-sur-Mer and Brem-sur-Mer. From La Roche-sur-Yon via A87/D160, turn west on D949 Les Sables ring road then north on D32 to Olonne-sur-Mer. Site is signed to left in town centre.
