Alan Rogers Review of Woodland Waters
This attractive holiday park occupies 70 acres of woodland, gently sloping grassland and lakes, with the caravan park itself occupying about 20 acres. There are 120 pitches although only 60 are regularly used (all with 10A electricity and water taps nearby). There is a rally field of 20 pitches with hook-ups, plus areas for camping and for those not requiring electricity. The land slopes gently down to the 14-acre lake and the pitches nearer the water are more level, although probably not suitable for those with younger children since there is no fencing. Reception is housed in a neat, modern building at the park entrance.
The welcome is warm, fishing tickets are sold and tourist information is available. The pleasant bar and restaurant (open to the public) occupy a chalet-style building near the lake; the menu is varied and reasonably priced. There are four fishing lakes (plus a junior pool), with carp, tench, bream, roach, rudd and pike. Walking and birdwatching are other featured attractions of the park. Nearby Ancaster has a few shops and an old stone pub serving meals and snacks. The market town of Grantham is an easy drive or bus-ride away and has a good range of shops, supermarkets and restaurants; on the way into town are Belton House and Gardens (NT), and a large garden centre. Days out could include Nottingham and its Castle, Lincoln with its impressive cathedral and newly-refurbished castle housing a copy of the Magna Carta and even Lincolnshire’s popular seaside resort of Skegness.

A second block provides extra facilities when the additional camping areas are fully occupied. Small laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer and iron, but no laundry sinks. Motorhome services. Bar and restaurant with takeaway (all year). Play area. Four fishing lakes. Chalets and rooms to rent. WiFi.
