Alan Rogers Review
Run by the welcoming Hicks family, the Tregarton Park estate itself dates back to the 16th century. The family have worked hard with their conversions to create a pleasing environment. The 12-acre caravan park is made up of four meadows with wonderful rural views. The 125 pitches, all with 10A electric hook ups, 30 with hardstanding, are of a generous size with most separated by either hedges or fencing. All have been terraced as the park itself is quite hilly. Reception provides a well stocked shop, tourist information and a takeaway service in high season, offering freshly cooked food including a daily delivery of Cornish pasties.
The large heated outdoor pool is surrounded by decked terraces, with tables and chairs where one can relax and watch the children – in fact, it is the focal point of the park. An adventure playground is in one of the meadows where there is also an impressive all-weather tennis court (free). Close to the small harbour town of Gorran and about 2.5 miles from Mevagissey, with several beaches close by, this is an ideal site for those who do not want lots of on-site entertainment, but would enjoy the option of various activities available nearby.
The fully equipped toilet block has been completely revamped and includes some excellent features. Facilities for disabled visitors. Laundry room. Well stocked shop with groceries and camping supplies (11/5-24/9), takeaway (21/5-24/9). Gas supplies. Heated swimming pool (1/5-24/9). Dog exercise meadow. Adventure playground. All weather tennis. WiFi. Max. 2 dogs.
Leave St Austell travelling south on the B3273 and pass through London Apprentice and Pentewen. Follow Tregarton Park’s brown tourist signs by turning right at the crossroads at the top of the hill towards Heligan and Gorran Haven. . Go past Lost Gardens of Heligan on the left and Tregarton Park is approx. 1.5 miles on the right.Do not go into Mevagissey.Link to campsite location map on google
