Alan Rogers Review of South Cliff Caravan Park
This traditional style caravan park is part of a large complex owned and operated by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. There are 193 touring pitches, each with a 16A electricity post; 20 are for tents, the remainder have hardstanding surrounded by grass or, in a few cases, extended to the road. They are in rows across the field, so access for larger units can be tricky when the site is full. Direct access to the seafront is via a ‘park and ride’ system and from there a land train runs a mile along the shore to Bridlington.
Here you can visit the historic old town, the harbour with its heritage museum, the Spa Theatre and Ballroom, Sewerby Hall and Gardens and Leisure World. Nearby are Flamborough Head with its lighthouse, and Bempton Cliffs (RSPB). Day trips could include a drive through the Yorkshire Wolds or down to the coast to Spurn Point. Visits to Beverley or York, each with its Minster and racecourse, Scarborough, or even to Pickering and the North York Moors Railway.
Facilities at South Cliff Caravan Park
Two toilet blocks (one traditional, one new) provide pushbutton showers, open washbasins (a few in cubicles for ladies). Excellent en-suite accessible units . Three bathrooms with washbasins and baby changing facilities. No motorhome service point. Franchised facilities include a launderette, a well stocked shop (1/3-8/10), a fish and chip shop, and a leisure complex (bar, restaurant, clubroom, games room) offering entertainment evenings in high season and monthly themed weekends (outside August). Ten mobile homes to rent. Dogs are not accepted (except assistance dogs). Large motorhomes are accepted by arrangement subject to availability.
