Tucked away down a half mile long bumpy lane is a rather special campsite. Built by Steve and Louise, who own South Breazle farm, the site is spacious with large pitches around the edge of a well mown field. They are marked with young hedging and are named, e.g. Squirrel’s Secret. This relaxed site is a haven for stargazers and lovers of nature and the magnificent tall trees which edge the field are full of birds. There are only 29 large pitches, 23 with 16A electricity and water, and some with hardstanding. There are places for backpackers. Torches are advised.

The buildings are in keeping with the environment. For children, there is a Fun Fountain they can run in and out of – used by adults as well we gather – and a field to play in. Nearby Roadford Lake offers opportunities to fish, canoe, surf, birdwatch or just follow the nature trail. The local pub at Bratton Clovelly is recommended for meals, a short distance by car, but here above all it is a chance to wind down in the peace and quiet of this rural hideaway and enjoy the wonderful natural surroundings.

Directions to South Breazle Holidays

West of Okehampton leave A30 at Stowford Cross. Follow signs for Roadford Lake. At top of hill (1.5 miles) turn right signed Bratton Clovelly. Take second left signed Germansweek. Site signed first right, follow narrow lane to site (0.5 mile).
