Alan Rogers Review
Sandymouth is a popular family park with a good range of amenities. It is situated on the side of a valley with wonderful views but also a lot of up-and-down walking. There are 204 pitches with 21 serviced pitches for motorhomes and caravans, arranged either side of a tarmac roadway. There is a large, sloping, open field for 70 tents, 17 of the pitches have 16A electricity. There is also a good range of fully equipped mobile homes, chalets and lodges available to rent. On-site amenities include an indoor pool (with water slide), sauna and free membership of the Ocean Bar and Club.
There is a great deal here for children – notably the Black Pearl Adventure Play area which comprises a five-deck galleon with slides, walkways and a 24 m. cableway. There is a lively programme of entertainment on a nightly basis in peak season. Sandymouth beach is a one mile downhill walk from the site with firm hard sand and wonderful rock pools, and there is a National Trust car park and small café. For keen fishermen, coarse fishing is free in the pools opposite the site. North Cornwall also offers the UK’s best surfing and Bude is a popular centre for the sport. From May 2010 the site is under new ownership and there maybe some changes.
