Alan Rogers Review of Quarry Walk Caravan & Camping Park
A generally quiet site with abundant natural interest and waymarked walks, located in a former quarry and woodland of 46 acres. Pitches vary in size and shape but are set among maturing trees. Evidence of quarrying is masked by foliage, but bluffs and exposed cliffs remain. A good play area is found at the base of one exposed face. Eleven touring pitches offer 16A electricity and water. Four fields have 44 pitches of varying shapes and sizes for tents, some with electricity. There are 22 chalets, complete with hot tub, available to rent.
The park is in a secluded rural location in Staffordshire with Alton Towers theme park within easy reach and a host of walks both on and off site. The Potteries and the Peak District are nearby, offering a variety of different activities. There are a number of highly desirable pitches for tents on the park. The steep drops associated with the quarrying of the past are protected along much of the length with a wooden barrier, especially next to the camping fields. Deeper into the woodland the edges are more open and the paths become a little more challenging. The park endeavours to seek a balance between the natural environment and the over use of signage. There is an abundance of natural habitats and visitors will have opportunities to observe a variety of wildlife.
