What a superb site! Playa Montroig is about 30 kilometres beyond Tarragona, set in its own tropical gardens with direct access to a very long, narrow, soft sand beach. The main part of the site lies between the sea, road and railway (as at other sites on this coast, occasional train noise on some pitches) with a huge underpass. The site is divided into spacious, marked pitches with excellent shade provided by a variety of lush vegetation including very impressive palms set in wide avenues. There are 990 pitches, all with electricity (10A) and 661 with water and drainage. Some 47 pitches are directly alongside the beach. A member of Leading Campings group.
The site has many outstanding features: there is an excellent pool complex near the entrance, with two pools (one heated). A new Espai Grill and bar with a rock and roll disco and a pretty candlelit patio is just outside the gate. One restaurant serves good food with some Catalan fare (seats 150) and overlooks an entertainment area. A large terrace bar serves drinks or if you yearn for louder music there is a second disco with a smaller bar. There is yet another eating option in a 500-seat restaurant. Above this is the Pai-pai Caribbean cocktail bar where softer music is provided in an intimate atmosphere. Activities for children are very ambitious – there is even a ceramics kiln (multi-lingual carers). La Plaza, a spectacular open-air theatre, is an ideal setting for daily keep fit sessions and the professional entertainment provided. Several beach sports are available on the beach. This is an excellent site and there is insufficient space here to describe all the available activities. We recommend it for families with children of all ages, and there is much emphasis on providing activities outside the high season.
