Alan Rogers Review of Park Foot Holiday Park
If you want to go camping in the Lake District, Park Foot Camping and Touring Park is a campsite worth visiting. Set on the banks of Ullswater, in the heart of the Lakes, They have three camping fields, all with electric hook-up points, suitable for tents, caravans and motor homes, and each has its own modern toilet and shower block.
Striding Edge field is close to the on-site shop with a new children's playground and toilet and shower block. Sandall Field is closer to the reception area and the campsites Restaurant and Bar. Lakeside Field has access to Lake Ullswater, with its own bathing beach. You can also go fishing, kayaking and sailing here. The campsite also offers boat launching and mooring. This field also provides stunning picturesque views of the surrounding countryside. There are drinking water taps placed conveniently around all the camping fields.
Many regard Ullswater as the most beautiful of the English Lakes. The village of Pooley Bridge is at the northern extremity of the lake, just one mile from Park Foot. For much of its length, Ullswater forms the border between the ancient counties of Cumberland and Westmorland. The village of Glenridding, situated at the southern tip of the lake, is popular with tourists of all kinds, particularly mountain walkers who use the village as a base to scale Helvellyn (England’s 3rd highest peak), amongst other challenging ascents. Ullswater’s attractions include the steamers, which offer day trips around the Lake, calling at Pooley Bridge, Glenridding and Howtown.
