Alan Rogers Review of Mossyard Caravan Park
Mossyard is a family run park set within a working farm right beside the sea in a sheltered bay. The park and farmhouse appear together suddenly over the horizon as you approach, with some breathtaking views across the Solway where the Galloway Hills and the waters of Fleet Bay meet. There are 37 grass touring pitches, 12 for caravans and motorhomes on an elevated area that slopes in parts. The remaining 25 pitches for any unit are on a level field which adjoins the beach. There are dishwashing and toilet facilities on the lower field. Electrical connections (16A) are available to all.
On arrival you pass through the farm buildings into the park which is divided into two sections by stone walls. Around the perimeter are several new wooden chalets and holiday homes and self catering holiday cottages. This is a wonderful park for outdoor activities such as watersports and fishing where small craft can be launched from site. Although some of the beaches and tides around the Solway Coast are dangerous, the one around this bay is very safe. Large motorhomes and twin-axle caravans are accepted.
Facilities at Mossyard Caravan Park
Some of the farm buildings around the main farmhouse have been utilised for the sanitary facilities, which are of traditional design. Showers are coin-operated (20p). Roomy accessible facilities can also be used as a family bathroom. Purpose built building with laundry, dishwashing area and information room with freezer and fridge for visitors’ use. No shop, but supermarkets deliver.

Take A75 road from Dumfries towards Stranraer and park is signed to the left, 4 miles west of Gatehouse of Fleet, 1 mile down a single track farm road.
