This site is only five minutes’ walk from one of Denmark’s oldest villages and ten minutes’ drive from Tønder with its well preserved old buildings and interesting pedestrian shopping street. A quiet family site, Møgeltønder is well maintained with 285 large, level, numbered pitches on grass, with electricity (10A), of which 204 are for tourers. They are divided up by shrubs and hedges. The site has an excellent outdoor heated swimming pool and children’s pool, a good playground with zip wire, table tennis, bouncy cushion and a range of trolleys, carts and tricycles. There are two good free kitchens for campers’ use, and fishing is available next to the site.

From here you can visit the Schackenborg Castle Gardens (with guided tours) The castle is owned by the Danish royal family and was built in 1283. The old town of Ribe is just 43 km. Trips into Northern Germany would make a good day out. The site has 18 cabins for hire and 35 long-stay units. The owners are friendly and welcoming, and both speak English. Møgeltønder has one of Denmark’s largest village churches with valuable furnishings and interior decorations and should not be missed.

Two heated sanitary units include roomy showers (on payment), washbasins with either divider/curtain or in private cubicles, plus bathrooms for families and accessible sanitary facilities. Baby room. Two kitchens with hobs (free). Laundry. Motorhome services. Well stocked shop (bread ordered daily, seasonal). Outdoor heated swimming pool (10x5m) with chute and paddling pool (June-Sept). Minigolf. Playground. TV and games rooms. WiFi (charged).

Directions to Møgeltønder Camping

Turn left off no. 419 Tønder-Højer road, 4 km. from Tønder. Drive through Møgeltønder village and past the church where site is signed. The main street is cobbled so drive slowly.
