Kulturinsel Einsiedel is buried deep in the forests in the very east of Germany. The adventure park is a fascinating mixture of fairytale imagination combined with middle age technology and attracts over 100,000 visitors a year, the majority being youngsters. Large water-filled cauldrons capable of holding several children are heated over log fires providing warm water for bathing. Houses to rent and an hotel are wedged high above the ground in the trees, and when appetite calls a raw sausage and bread can be purchased and cooked in one of the circular stone fireplaces in front of the ‘restaurant’. An area has been set aside for campers. For touring units there is a quick stop facility on level, grassy ground with electrical connections.

The Adventure park, just a short distance from the site, is open from 10.00 daily. As it is in fairly open forest, try to plan a visit in dry weather. The use of colour, building style and lack of visible modern technology make this award winning park an unforgettable experience and a very pleasant change from modern high tech noisy equivalents.

Facilities at Kulturinsel Einsiedel

Sanitary facilities are restricted and the limited numbers of showers and toilets will quickly become full when the very large tents, which accommodate visiting groups, are occupied.
