Set about 20 km up the coast from Dunkirk, Kompas Camping Westende is a large holiday site near the sea. The vast sandy beach is only a short walk away, and there is easy access to the coastal tram service. Of the 435 pitches, half are taken by seasonal caravans plus 43 rental units, leaving some 100 touring pitches on grass with 10A electricity, plus a group of 77 large (150 sq.m) serviced pitches with water and electricity.

The site is well cared for, with a range of amenities for children, including a play barn. The shop, bar and restaurant are grouped around the reception. One end of the site is leased to a firm providing rental accommodation in mobile homes.

Adjacent are a large holiday rental complex and a barrier operated motorhome area. Ostend is only 15 km. away and offers a wide variety of activities. Day trips could include Ypres and the First World War battlefields, Bruges and even Ghent. There is easy access to the cycle path network.

Facilities at Kompas Camping Westende

Four toilet blocks are modern, recently renovated, and very clean. One block is due for refurbishment. Good facilities for children and accessible sanitary facilities in one block. Shop, bar, restaurant and takeaway (high season and w/ends). Adventure playground. Play barn. Sports area. Boules. Entertainment and activities programme for children (July/Aug). Bicycle hire. WiFi throughout (charged).

Directions to Kompas Camping Westende

From the E40 take exit 4 to Middelkerke (3-4 km). At the church turn left on N318 to Westende. After Westende church take the fourth turn right to the site (signed).
