With an impressive landscaped entrance, a shop and restaurant to one side, reception to the other, and a barrier closed in the evening, this is a good quality site. The heart of this site is a deep set, small fishing lake and beach. Lightly wooded, pitches are accessed by circular roadways on differing levels and terraced where necessary. Because of the design you don’t realise that there are 410 pitches, nearly all with electricity (6A) and clearly defined by shrubs and trees (330 for touring units). This rural area has attractive villages, plenty of water and woodland. Dogs are accepted on part of the site.

The interesting old port of Bremerhaven is nearby with its 29 km. of quays and maritime and fishing museums. A zoo for small animals is also nearby, and a riding school with Icelandic horses which are small, quiet and very safe for children with a good value inclusive daily rate, including lunch.

Facilities at Knaus Campingpark Wingst

Two heated toilet blocks, one adjoining reception with accessible facilities and one nearer the lake (access to this is by steps from the varying levels). The provision is good and well kept, with one block recently renovated. Motorhome services. Shop (7.30-22.00), restaurant, bar and takeaway. Playground. Minigolf. Beach volleyball. Fishing. Bicycle hire. Large screen TV. Barbecue facility with roof. WiFi (charged).

Follow the B73 north from Hamburg and take exit for Wingst (Spiel and Sportpark) signed Campingplatz. Then take first left.
