La Flotte is a typical Atlantic fishing village on the Ile de Ré, with narrow, wallflower-lined streets, brightly painted shutters and a port filled with sailing boats. Close to the star-shaped citadel at Saint Martin-de-Ré and just 900 m. from the long, sandy Plage de l’Arnérault, le Bel Air makes an ideal base for exploring the island on foot, by bicycle or by boat. There are over 220 pitches, with 6A electricity, separated by hedges or low fences and with plenty of mature trees providing shade. There are tents and modern canvas homes for hire. A snack-bar operates in high season. The site surrounds a rugby club on three sides.
The island has a choice of beaches within easy reach and offers many opportunities for watersports, with dinghy sailing, kite surfing and kayaking available close by. The terrain is completely flat and there are over 80 kilometres of designated cycle lanes, with bicycle hire readily available. If you choose to venture off the island, all the attractions of La Rochelle are just twenty kilometres away across the toll bridge.

Four unheated sanitary blocks provide washbasins and hot showers in cubicles. Facilities for families, accessible facilities, Motorhome services (€ 4). Laundry. Snack bar with fresh bread daily (May/Aug). Outdoor heated pool (May-September). Play area. Boules court. Tennis. Activities room. Occasional children’s activities (July/Aug). Bicycle hire. WiFi on part of site (free). No charcoal barbecues.
Directions to Flower Camping le Bel Air
La Flotte is on the north coast of the Ile de Ré. From La Rochelle take N237 to Ile de Ré, crossing toll bridge. Follow D735 for 11 km, then turn north at roundabout to La Flotte. Site is on right in 300 m.
