Alan Rogers Review
This site can be found to the north of the pretty fishing village of Ericeira, just 40 minutes north of Lisbon and 200 m. from the beach. The local beaches are magnificent and are world renowned for surfing and bodyboarding. Pitches are of a good size but many have limited shade. Most have electrical connections (6A). A number mobile homes are available to rent, as well as very small chalets for two people and teepees. On-site amenities include a swimming pool and a separate paddling pool. There is also a bar/restaurant with a terrace and a well stocked shop.
Ericeira lies close to Mafra National Park. This was created by King João V for hunting and recreation, and extends over 2,000 acres. The park is home to wild boar, deer and various birds of prey. Nearby, Mafra’s vast National Palace dwarfs the surrounding city. This Baroque palace is one of Europe’s largest 18th-century buildings. Ericeira itself is a pleasant resort with four beaches and also a fine musical heritage with its Filarmónica Cultural dating back to 1849.
The usual sanitary facilities are provided. Laundry. Motorhome services. Shop. Bar. Restaurant with terrace. Swimming pool. Paddling pool. Play area. Mobile homes, chalets and tents to rent.
LocationApproaching from the north on A8 motorway, leave at exit 5 (north of Lisbon) and take the westbound A21, bypassing Mafra and continue to Ericeira. The site is to the north of the village and is well signed.
