Alan Rogers Review of Dunbar Camping & Caravanning Club Site
Dunbar Camping & Caravanning Club site is close to the popular East Lothian seaside town of the same name and adjacent to Whitesands Bay - a long stretch of sandy surfing beach. Spectacular landscapes surround the site, ensuring wherever you are pitched you have a stunning view. There is a large picnic area overlooking the coast and most pitches have sea views which extend over the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock, a temporary nesting spot for 150,000 seabirds during peak season. The site is nicely laid out and spacious with 115 grass or hardstanding pitches, most with electric hook-up. Some seasonal.
N.B. Non-members are welcome and may join on site. Please speak to site staff for details and to check pitch availability before arrival.
Dunbar, three miles from the site has numerous shops, cafes, an organic greengrocer, community bakery and wet fish shop. East beach, minutes from the town centre is great for bathing, paddle boarding and sea kayaking. Inland other attractions include East Links Family Park with animals and a narrow-gauge railway, Museum of Flight at East Fortune and the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick, where you can view gannets, puffins and seals from interactive live cameras. Belhaven Fruit Farm is 4 miles from site. Due to the windy site location, steel rock pegs are recommended.
