Alan Rogers Review
Cove Camping is a delightful, small site, some of the 50 pitches having great views over Lake Ullswater. The grass is well trimmed, there are ramps to keep speeds down to 5 mph. and the site is well lit. There are 21 touring pitches with 10A electricity hook-ups and water, some with waste water, plus 29 tent pitches, seven of which have electricity. The rest of the park is quite sloping and some terracing has been carried out to create pitches with a lake view. Refuse and recycling bins are hidden behind wooden fencing. The park is well situated for walking, boating, fishing and pony trekking.
The road up from the A592 is narrow, but a self imposed, one-way system is generally adhered to and the warden will advise on a different way to leave the site.
The recently refurbished toilet block is immaculate and heated in cooler months, providing adjustable showers, some washbasins in cabins and, for ladies, a hairdressing area with stool and a baby changing unit. Foyer containing a freezer (free), and tourist information. Laundry with washing machine, dryer and an iron. Gas supplies. Small, grass-based play area.
LocationWe advise using the following directions rather than GPS. From A66 Penrith-Keswick road, take A592 south (Ullswater). Turn right at Brackenrigg Inn and follow road uphill for 1.5 miles to park on left. This road is narrow, large units should telephone park for an alternative route.
