La Grande Métairie is a good quality site situated back from the sea, close to the impressive rows of the famous Carnac menhirs (giant prehistoric standing stones). The site has 581 individual pitches (112 for touring units), surrounded by hedges and trees. All have 10A electricity (some need long leads). The site is well known and popular and has many British visitors, with 314 pitches taken by tour operators. It is ideal for families with children of all ages. It is lively and busy over a long season with new activities added each year.

Musical evenings, barbecues and other organised events including occasional dances are held in an outdoor amphitheatre (pitches near these facilities may be noisy late at night – the bar closes at midnight). Paddocks with ponds are home for ducks, goats and ponies to watch and feed. There are also pony rides around the site. A super pool complex comprises heated indoor and outdoor pools, water slides and toboggans and a jacuzzi. A local market takes place at Carnac on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Directions to Camping la Grande Métairie

From N165 take Quiberon/Carnac exit onto the D768. After 5 km. turn south onto D119 towards Carnac. At roundabout and after 4 km. turn left (northeast) onto D196 to the site.
