Spain, Andalucia, Granada, Trevélez
Alan Rogers Review
Set high up in the Alpujarras region of the Sierra Nevada, Camping Trevélez is a super site that was bought in 2005 by the resident owners, Richard and Alexandra. Since taking over, they have worked tirelessly to improve the site and, each year, have made significant progress.
The site, which is open all year, is reached via a narrow, winding road and is ideally suited to tents and smaller motorhomes which are sited on terraced plots, each with spectacular mountain views. Twenty of the 94 touring pitches have 4-6A electricity. Sit outside at night and wonder at the stars above but make sure you have a torch; it gets very dark at night.
On arrival you will receive a warm and friendly greeting and, once you have settled in, why not relax on the terrace of the restaurant and bar before sampling the homemade delights of the local cuisine in the restaurant? Bicycles can be hired on site and there are also plenty of opportunities for walking from the site. A footpath links the site to the picturesque village of Trevelez, the highest village in Spain, where there are bars, restaurants and locally made craft items on sale. In winter it is a popular venue for cross-country skiing.
One sanitary block, recently redecorated, provides toilets, washbasins and shower cubicles. Facilities for disabled visitors. Washing machine and dryer. Shop. Bar and restaurant. Play area. Swimming pool (high season). Barbecues are only allowed in designated areas and not at all from mid-June to mid-October. Free WiFi over part of the site.
From A44 (E902) Granada-Motril road, exit at 164 km. onto A348. At Orgiva take A4132 for 32 km. to Trevélez. Road is winding and very narrow in places and is not suitable for large units.Link to campsite location map on google
