Alan Rogers Review of Camping Ter Duinen
Ter Duinen is a large, seaside holiday site with 120 touring pitches and over 700 privately owned static holiday caravans. The pitches are laid out in straight lines with tarmac access roads, and the site has three toilet blocks with token-operated showers. Other than a bar, small shop, playground and a playing field, the site has few other facilities, but it is only a 600 m. walk to the sea, and next door to the site is a large sports complex with a sub-tropical pool and several sporting facilities. Opportunities for riding and hiring bikes are close by.
De Haan is famous for its Belle Epoque buildings and the English cottage-style houses. Access to the beach is via a good woodland footpath through the sand dunes. There is a main road and tramway to cross, but there are designated pedestrian crossings. The site is surrounded by lush woods and has numerous beautiful cycling paths to Bruges, Blankenberge and Ostend which are worth a day trip. You can also visit the polygonal Fort Napoleon and enjoy a drink/meal in their restaurant.
Facilities at Camping Ter Duinen
Three modern toilet blocks have good fittings, washbasins in cubicles (hot and cold water) and showers (€ 1.20). Baby bath. Accessible sanitary facilities. Laundry facilities with two washing machines and a dryer, irons and ironing boards. Motorhome services. Shop. Snack bar and takeaway. Internet room (charged).
Directions to Camping Ter Duinen
On E40/A10 in either direction take exit 6 for De Haan/Jabbeke. Follow N377 towards Haan-Bredene, at roundabout head towards Vlissegem. After 4 km. go straight on at junction. Turn right after a further 1.5 km. Site is 750 m. on right.
