Alan Rogers Review
Camping Stein is a family-run 4-star site located on Lake Simssee, between lush meadows, dense forests and shimmering lakes, in the heart of Upper Bavaria. Not far from the Austrian border, it's an ideal base for exploring the majestic Bavarian Alps, Munich, Salzburg and Lake Chiemsee with Castle Herrenchiemsee and Frauenchiemsee or Chiemgauer Seenplatte, one of the oldest nature reserves in Bavaria. Several cycle routes and hiking trails lead from the campsite up into the wooded hills and through the peaceful valleys.
The camping area is terraced in places, and there are 155 pitches, of which 70 are for touring, with electricity, water & waste facility. An attractive grassy expanse, dotted with trees and popular with sun worshippers, leads down to the lake, where a gently shelving pebble beach allows access to the calm water for swimming and windsurfing.
