Alan Rogers Review
Camping Stadtsteinach is a comfortable base, well placed for exploring this rural region with its interesting towns, forest walks and undulating hills rising to the east. The Fichtel Mountains are nearby, and there are plenty of quiet lanes meandering through the countryside, sometimes following tumbling wooded streams, perfect for hiking and cycling. The campsite lies on the eastern edge of the village of Stadtsteinach, which offers handy shops and amenities.
There are 100 touring pitches laid out on either side of access roads. These are mostly grassy and level with 16A electricity. The site is on a gentle slope, pitches having been terraced where necessary, and there are some hardstandings for motorhomes. High hedges and trees separate pitches or groups of pitches in some areas giving the effect of camping in small clearings, but most pitches are open and sunny.
The sanitary area is part of the administration and restaurant building, heated and of good quality. It has free hot water and some washbasins in cabins. Facilities for visitors with disabilities. Motorhome services. Cooking rings on payment. Laundry facilities. Gas supplies. Restaurant. Bread from reception. Solar heated swimming pool near the entrance is free to campers (high season). Play area. Tennis. TV. Bicycle hire.
LocationStadtsteinach is 22 km. north of Bayreuth. Take exit 39 from the A9/E51 Nürnberg-Berlin autobahn and travel north on road 303 to Stadtsteinach. Site is well signed. Link to campsite location map on google
