Alan Rogers Review of Camping Saint Colomban
At an altitude of 1,150-2,300 m. on the slopes of the Col du Glandon in the Maurienne Valley, Camping Saint Colomban is a peaceful, country site with splendid views of the surrounding mountains. There are fully equipped mobile homes and wooden chalets to rent spread over two acres as well as pitches for touring units (electricity provided). There are plenty of activities in the surrounding area, with skiing in the winter and walking, hiking and sightseeing in the summer. In addition, excursions from the site and a children’s club are offered in the high season.
Set in a quiet location among the mountains, it is close to a lake and sports ground along with shops and restaurants. Both alpine and cross country skiing are on offer and equipment can be hired on site. St. Colomban des Villards has 30 km. of pistes of varying levels of difficulty and snow cannons are on hand in the event of inadequate snowfall. The cross country skiing some 10 km. away accommodates skiers with disabilities. The site is close to the Tour de France route.
