Alan Rogers Review of Camping River
Camping River is a large oblong site on the banks of the Magna river but only the swimming pool/entertainment area has river views. It provides 100 level, 75-100 sq.m. touring pitches (all 3A electricity) mostly under a canopy of tall trees with much welcome shade on hot days. They are mostly separated from the equal number of permanent pitches. It is possible to launch your boat into the Magra river from the campsite and there are good fishing opportunities further up river. A busy entertainment programme is provided from mid June until September.
Camping River has something for all the family; we saw fishermen setting off for the afternoon, families playing in the pool and small children enjoying the large play area while their parents relaxed with a cup of coffee on the terrace. This is a wonderful area to explore with the Cinque Terre nearby, its beautiful coastline and interesting hill top villages. Ligúria is also a well known wine growing area.
Facilities at Camping River
Two unisex sanitary blocks provide toilets, washbasins and showers. Accessible facilities. Motorhome services. Shop, restaurant and bar, pizzeria (1/5-30/9). Swimming pool (1/5-15/9) and sun deck. Play area. Football. Hydro massage. Boat launching. Fishing. Mobile homes and bungalows to rent. Entertainment area. Beach shuttle bus. Lessons organised (scuba diving, swimming, dancing). Kayak, windsurf board, bicycle hire. WiFi (free).
Directions to Camping River
Take Sarzana exit on the A12 (Genoa-Livorno) and follow the signs initially towards Lerici. After 3 km. follow signs to Bocca di Magra and Ameglia where the site is signed off to left. Avoid other less good sites (one claiming to be ‘formerly Camping River’). The final access road is a little narrow.
