In wooded countryside southeast of Dresden, close to the border with the Czech Republic, Waldcamping Pirna-Copitz lies on the shore of a small lake, surrounded by forest. There are 151 touring pitches (80-100 sq.m) in two areas; all have electricity connections (16A, Europlug) and 90 also have individual water taps and waste water drains. There are 13 caravans and chalets for hire. You can relax on the sandy beach, swim in the lake or stroll through the woods. The historic city of Dresden, capital of Saxony, is an easy drive away.

Following the destruction of the city by Allied bombing during the Second World War, much of the historic centre has been reconstructed. Impressive buildings include Semperoper, home of Saxon State Opera, the castle and Katholische Hofkirche, Dresden’s cathedral. Near the campsite are several other lakes, the largest being Kiessee, providing numerous opportunities for watersports and diving enthusiasts.

Facilities at Camping Pirna

The central sanitary building includes facilities for babies, children and accessible facilities. Washing machines and dryers. Table tennis and ball games. Swimming in lake. Fishing. Bicycle hire. Programme of activities and entertainment for children and families (Tues. and Thurs. in July/Aug); these include geocaching (digital treasure hunt), felting, creating ships using cork, designing storm lanterns and carving soapstone. WiFi throughout (free).

Directions to Camping Pirna

Pirna is 22 km. southeast of Dresden; site is 4 km. north of the town. From A17 (Dresden-Czech Republic) motorway, leave at exit 6 and head east on B172A towards Pirna and continue north on S177. Cross River Elbe and after 2.5 km. take exit and head south on S167 to campsite on right.
