Peniche Praia can be found on the northern side of the Peniche peninsula, around 90 km. north of Lisbon, and has the distinction of being the westernmost campsite in continental Europe! Peniche was once an island and, given its strategic importance, has been occupied since Roman times. It has a 10 km. coastline and some fine sandy beaches, and is now a popular holiday destination. Camping pitches here are divided into three areas and are of a good size but shade is limited. There are also a number of mobile homes and chalets to rent. On-site amenities include a swimming pool (covered in the winter), snack bar and internet café.

Surfing here is extremely popular with conditions frequently amongst the best in Europe. Other watersports are also popular, including kite surfing and scuba diving. Peniche itself is Europe’s westernmost city and is very much a city of the sea, maintaining an important fishing tradition. The city has a great deal of interest, including its 16th-century fortress. Offshore, the Berlengas islands were one of the world’s first protected areas and remain an important bird sanctuary.

Directions to Camping Peniche Praia

Approaching from the north on A8 motorway take the Peniche exit and head west on N114. Upon reaching Peniche head to the north of the city following signs to São Pedro and the site is clearly signed.
