Less than a kilometre northwest of Sulzberg, this site lies in the foothills north of the Alps, a cross-country skiing area in winter, with good walking and cycling at other times. Across the road is a swimming and picnic area on the edge of the lake. Most of the 100 touring pitches are on level ground and all have access to electricity (10A). Ski lifts that also operate in summer for access to mountain walks are 15 minutes drive away. The nearby town of Kempten (7 km) is worth a visit and annually hosts the 9-day Allgäu Festival in mid August.
The all year resort of Oberstdorf is 35 km. and the site is close enough to Füssen (42 km) for a day trip to there and the castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. Its proximity to the autobahn makes it a good overnight stop on the way to or from places such as Oberammergau, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Berchtesgaden and Salzburg.
Facilities
Two modern heated sanitary blocks are clean and well maintained, with free showers, some washbasins in cabins, baby room and accessible facilities. Laundry room. Motorhome services. Bar, snack bar, takeaway and small shop, which also serves as reception. Gas sales. TV and games room. Playground. Skittle alley. Bicycle hire.
Location
From A7/E43 autobahn at exit 136, turn on A980 heading west towards Waltenhofen and Isny. After 2.5 km. at exit no 2, take minor road south towards Sulzberg. Site is signed from here (1.2 km).
