An attractive, small site with well tended flower beds, les Gabarreys is surrounded by vineyards of the Médoc region. An excellent site, it has 58 pitches with 35 hardstanding for caravans or motorhomes (so pegging out awnings could be a problem), some grass pitches for tents and six mobile homes, most with electric hook-ups (5/10A, some may require long leads). The Maison du Tourisme et du Vin should be your first port of call. The surrounding area is well supplied with wine caves and being fairly level you could perhaps cycle to some of them.
The site is popular with the grape pickers in September, but the warden always keeps some pitches for tourists.
Facilities at Camping Municipal les Gabarreys
Two immaculate toilet blocks provide open and cubicle washbasins and excellent accessible facilities. Motorhome services. General room with satellite TV, fridge freezer and a small library. New play area. Minigolf (free) and volleyball. Spa and sauna (June-Sept). Communal barbecue. WiFi on part of site (free).
Directions to Camping Municipal les Gabarreys
Pauillac is northwest of Bordeaux. From Bordeaux take D1 to St Laurent, then D206 to Pauillac. At roundabout turn right to Pauillac Guais, then straight ahead at next roundabout and turn right before the Maison du Tourisme.
