Alan Rogers Review of Camping Madrid Monte Holiday
This picturesque and conservation-minded site is situated in an open, sunny lower valley in Madrid’s only beech forest in the Parque Natural Sierre de Guadarrama. The area is ideal for walkers and nature lovers and offers many opportunities for outdoor sports enthusiasts.
The site is mainly terraced and has 450 pitches, with 125 for touring units. These include a new area of 30 larger comfort pitches. All the pitches are mainly flat with grass or gravel surfaces and shade from mature trees. Permanent units take the upper area. An extensive new activity area includes a zip wire accessed via climbing walls.
The site has an attractive swimming pool with sunbathing areas and the nearby bar/restaurant offers an excellent view of the valley from its terrace. A range of adventure and outdoor activities is available including horse riding and skiing on the nearby slopes in winter (a bus service operates from near the site). In addition, the site has tennis courts and sports and play areas. Other organised activities include mushroom gathering, guided walks and musical events (high season). Madrid, Segovia and the monastary at El Escorial are all accessible by car (and bus to Madrid at 800 m). The site is part of the Campingred group.
