For panoramic views of mountains and the lake, this family run site is excellent. Trim and neat, the site is well cared for and the welcome is warm. The 300 pitches are generally large and well drained, some with small hedges but mostly open and with 10A electricity. These pitches share the site with chalets, which are located at the top of the site, well away from the tourers. L’Idéal is far enough from the lake to avoid the noise and crowds but close enough to take advantage of the facilities there. From the site you can cycle downhill to join the Annecy cycle route.

In high season, there is a good restaurant and takeaway and, for the adventure minded, there are lessons in paragliding on the gentle nursery slope (site owned) adjacent to the pitches. There are bicycles to hire, two swimming pools (one heated) and a full activity programme in high season for younger family members.

Facilities at Camping l’Idéal

Three very well designed toilet blocks, one newly renovated, were fairly clean and include excellent accessible facilities. A further new block is planned. Laundry facilities. Shop (May-Sept). Bar. Restaurant, snack bar and takeaway (May-September). Two swimming pools. Tennis. Paragliding lessons. Bicycle hire. Play area. Children’s club. Activities and excursions in high season. WiFi (charged).
