Camping les Peupliers is situated in the harbour area 500 m. from a fine sandy beach. It is a neat, tidy and well organised site with shade from a mixture of tall trees and shrubs. There is an attractive pool complex here with several water slides, a spa bath and a shallower area for children. It is a lively site in peak season with music evenings and various games and competitions. There are 245 pitches in total with 124 level, grass pitches for touring units. Most are supplied with 10A electricity. Mobile homes are available for rent. The bar/restaurant is the focal point of the site, and also hosts many of les Peupliers’ social activities.

Although the beach is the big draw here, Canet is just 45 km. from the Spanish border and the foothills of the Pyrenees are also within easy reach. The snow-capped summit of the Canigou can be seen for much of the year. ‘Le train jaune’ (named after the yellow and red Catalan flag) is a superb way of exploring the mountains and passes through Bolquère-Eyne, France’s highest railway station.

Location

From A9 take exit 41 and follow signs for Le Barcarès and Caneton D83 for 10 km. Then follow D81 towards Canet-en-Roussillon. At first Canet roundabout (Ch. de Gaulle) turn fully back on yourself to Barcarès-Ste Marie. Turn right towards ZA Las Bigues. At end of this road, turn right, then first left to site.
