Alan Rogers Review of Camping les Peupliers
This friendly, family campsite enjoys a peaceful setting between the Atlantic Ocean and its marvellous sandy beaches, and the classic vineyards of the Medoc. The 2.5-hectare site has 116 grassy, level, shaded pitches, 60 for touring, all marked out and with an average surface area of 120 sq.m. Electricity is provided on each pitch (6A). A number of mobile homes are available to rent. Bicycle hire is available, and miles of great tracks run through the forest. Montalivet is an attractive resort with a colourful, open-air market with over 200 stalls. The beach is first class, and all manner of watersports are possible.
Further afield, the Gironde is rich in culture and a history dating back through the centuries. Turn north out of the campsite and visit the Saxon church of Soulac-sur-Mer. Head east and you will be deep in the world renowned Medoc vineyards. To the south, the great city of Bordeaux (80 km) has a great deal to offer visitors.

From the north on A10 exit at Saintes. Take N105 towards Royan then ferry across the Gironde to Verdon (30 mins). Watch out for queues in high season. Take D1215 south. After Vensac, turn right onto D102. Finally, take D101 to Vendays-Montalivet and campsite is on your left just after centre of village.
