There are surprisingly few campsites that provide an opportunity to enjoy the rather special ambience for which the Canal du Midi is renowned, but this pleasant little site is right alongside the canal at Villeneuve-les-Béziers. It is in a peaceful and shady situation, separated from the canal by an unmade access road, with a total of 90 level pitches on sandy grass. Some are large with 6A electricity, and eight are fully serviced for motorhomes. Of these, 20 are occupied by privately owned mobile homes and a further 25 are available to rent. There is a pleasant pool complex, one of the two pools being fitted with a jacuzzi-style facility. Sadly, the mature trees along the canal have been cut down, but young ones are growing in their place.

Its situation is such that not only can one savour the ambience of the canal, but it is within a few minutes drive of the beaches at Sérignan-Plage, Vias or Valras, the old city of Béziers, the famous resort of Cap d’Agde, or you can even cycle along the towpath to the beach at Portiragnes-Plage (7 km). The village of Villeneuve-les-Béziers itself, with shops, restaurants and a market, is just a few minutes walk along the towpath and over the canal bridge.

Bar/snack bar with TV (serving breakfast too). Small restaurant attached to site. Two swimming pools. Beauty therapist visits weekly. Multisports court. Play area. Fishing. Evening entertainment during high season. Only gas and electric barbecues allowed.

Location

From A9 exit 35, follow signs for Agde, at first roundabout take N112 (Béziers). First left onto D37 signed Villeneuve-les-Béziers and Valras-Plage. Pass traffic lights, left at roundabout and follow site signs (take care at junction beside bridge).
