Camping Seasonova Le Riva Bella (formally known as Les Pommiers) is an attractive and well equipped site which is very convenient for the Ouistreham ferry terminal. The site is located on the edge of the small town of Ouistreham alongside the large canal which passes Pegasus Bridge and leads to the city of Caen. There are 312 grassy pitches here, some are well shaded and others with a sunnier aspect. Most have electrical connections (6A) and around 20 pitches have been specially designated for motorhomes with a special nightly rate. A supermarket can be found 800 m. from the site. A few small mobile homes are available to rent.

UPDATE: Reviews on the internet point to an increasing number of migrants in the area, especially in the vicinity of the Riva-Bella campsite. The site has taken a number of sensible precautions including erection of a security fence around the perimeter. At the time of writing there have been no instances of migrants entering the site. There is a noticeable police presence in the town and when we visited a Gendarme was parked on the roundabout directly outside the entrance to the campsite. There is increased security at the ferry port and we were searched twice by the French customs officers. There also seems to be an increase in noise caused by lorry drivers venting their frustration at the migrants throughout the night. Given its convenient location, we are continuing to show Riva-Bella on our website and will continue to monitor any developments.

Given its location, this site will often be used as a convenient stop to tie in with the nearby cross-channel ferry service. However, this part of the Normandy Coast is of great interest. Pegasus Bridge at nearby Bénouville is the point where the landing of six British gliders marked the beginning of D-Day operations. The Gondrée café adjacent is still run by the same family and has much memorabilia of interest.

Location

Ouistreham can be found to the north of Caen. Approaching on the D514 and D84 the site is clearly signed close to a large traffic roundabout.
