This is a rustic French campsite set on its own in quiet countryside between Sainte Alvere and Le Bugue in the Périgord Noir. It lies south of Périgueux, and Bergerac and Sarlat are not far away. Set in three hectares on a slight hill and with an abundance of trees, the site has 69 pitches of which 26 are for touring units. The pitches are mostly level, mainly shielded from the sun and 10A electricity is provided (long leads maybe needed). There are 22 mobile homes to rent and 16 bungalows/tents. Larger units are accepted including twin-axle caravans. This is a French family run site where the whole family helps out.

Entertainment is arranged in high season in the form of Karaoke, dances and themed dinners. Offsite there are plenty of places to visit including prehistoric sites and caves, numerous châteaux and medieval villages. The abbey at Cadouin is also a very popular place to visit. Sainte Alvere tends to get very busy on Sunday mornings with the market and its cafés and restaurants.

Sanitary facilities include washbasins in cabins (access difficult). Laundry. Bar and snack bar. Outdoor swimming pool and children’s pool. Volleyball. Pétanque. Entertainment (July/Aug). Children’s club (French) (July/Aug). Shop (all season). Play area. Library. WiFi in bar (charged). Barbecues only permitted on communal areas.

Directions to Camping le Diamant Noir

From Le Bugue, take the D703 and after 6 km. turn right towards Les Arcies and Ste Alvere. Site is 3.5 km. further on and is well signed.
