Alan Rogers Review of Camping le Clos Lalande

Camping le Clos Lalande is a basic but pretty site near the Aveyron gorges, and close to the pleasant village of Montricoux. There are 49 touring pitches arranged over two hectares. All have electricity (6A) and water. The pitches are mainly on flat ground, shaded by maple trees in the lower area and exposed to sunlight in the upper part of the site. The site also has a number of mobile homes and chalets available for hire, many with a south facing terrace and garden furniture. On-site facilities include a fenced swimming pool with jacuzzi section and a paddling pool. There is direct access to the river for fishing and picnics.

This is, of course, superb walking country and there are more than 400 km. of marked walking and cycle routes through the surrounding hills, taking in caves, castles and small villages. There are routes for every level of ability and the site owners will be pleased to recommend the best routes, with the assurance that every one has been tried and tested by the site-owning family. At the foot of the site there is a small path along the river, leading directly to the medieval village of Montricoux with its Friday market and small museum of painters. The old town has some interesting wooden-framed buildings.

Facilities at Camping le Clos Lalande

Two traditional sanitary blocks, one partially heated, have some washbasins in cabins, a baby bath and changing table, and basic accessible facilities. Launderette. Snack bar and takeaway (May-Sept). Swimming pool with jacuzzi area. Paddling pool. Small library. Satellite TV room. Tennis. Outdoor fitness area. Play area. Small petting corner. Weekly themed meals. Pétanque competitions. Children’s activities and treasure hunts around the village. Free WiFi in TV room. Torches useful.

Directions to Camping le Clos Lalande

From Limoges, take A20 south towards Toulouse, then exit 59 towards Caussade. Keep left at fork and at roundabout take fourth exit onto D117. At roundabout take third exit onto D117, at next roundabout take first exit onto rue de Versailles. Follow D964 towards Montricoux, and site is signed just before Montricoux.
