La Raudière is a friendly, spacious, family site with English owners, located to the east of Cholet at Saint Maurice-la-Fougereuse. There are just 45 pitches with 25 for touring, laid out in a meadow setting. Twelve have electrical connections though long leads may be needed. Pitches are grassy, slightly sloping, unshaded and unmarked, allowing campers to choose a large ‘pitch’. The site boasts a heated swimming pool and a bar/restaurant that is open to the public. The site lies at the heart of the Anjou and is a good base for exploring the region. There are no lights on the site, so torches are essential.

Weekly wine tastings are organised by Thierry Berson who has worked with Gordon Ramsay. Meals are generally home cooked fast food with specials at the weekend. The Futuroscope theme park lies within easy reach, and a number of the Loire’s finest château towns (including Saumur, Angers and Montreuil-Bellay) are nearby. Close to the site, the pretty town of Aubigne-sur-Layon hosts an annual Music and Wine Festival every August, and the local village of Saint Maurice organises an annual Fête de la Moule.

The toilet block houses older style facilities including accessible facilities. Washing machines. Bar/restaurant (all season). Heated outdoor pool (end May-mid September). Play area. Basketball. Occasional activities (including wine tasting). WiFi in bar area. Mobile homes to rent.
