La Pujade is a very small site located between Carcassonne and Castelnaudary, close to the Canal du Midi. The site is open all year (apart from 2 weeks in October for the vendange).There are just 16 pitches here (13 for touring), of a good size (90 sq. m.), grassy and all have 16A electrical connections. La Pujade has been created within a working farm (and is a member of the Bienvenue à la Ferme scheme), part of which is a vineyard, with plenty of dégustation opportunities. There is a good restaurant, specializing in local produce, including homemade cassoulet, served with the site’s own wines.

The Canal du Midi provides many leisure opportunities, including excellent cycling trails along its towpaths. Carcassonne to the south needs little introduction, and can be reached in under 30 minutes. Castelnaudary is less well known but is an interesting town with an attractive marina on the Canal du Midi. To the south, the terrain becomes more dramatic, with good opportunities to visit some of the vertiginous Cathar castles.

Directions to Campsite L'Escale Occitane

Approaching from the south (Carcassonne), take northbound D6113 towards Alzonne. The site is signposted to the right (D8) shortly before reaching Alzonne (with the restaurant Chez Martine et Claude).
