La Gerfleur is a pleasant little site with a relaxed atmosphere and a warm welcome. It is a good holiday base, being an easy cycle ride from the sandy beach at Barneville Plage, or from the harbour and smaller cove at Carteret (both only 1.5 km). There are 40 mobile homes and chalets (13 to rent), but these are separated from 49 individual touring pitches. These are on grass with small dividing hedges and are arranged around a small lake which is used for fishing. All the pitches have electricity hook-ups (6A, long leads needed in places) and some shade from mature trees.

Day trips to the Channel Islands are possible from the nearby port. French and a little English are spoken by the friendly family owners.

Facilities

Clean and reasonable facilities include British style WCs, coin operated showers and some washbasins, all in unisex cubicles, and accessible units . Laundry facilities. Motorhome services. Bar with breakfast service and bread supplies (July/Aug). Heated swimming pool (6.5x14 m; 15/5-15/9) and paddling pool. Fishing lake. Boules. Games room. TV room. Small playground.

Location

Barneville-Carteret is 37 km. SSW of Cherbourg. From the north turn off the D904 Barneville-Carteret bypass, and use the old road to town. After 1 km. at roundabout, continue on D903E towards Barneville centre. Site is immediately on right. From south, continue round by-pass and approach as from north.
