This very attractive holiday and touring site is some 40 kilometres from Santander and 80 kilometres from Bilbao. It is a busy, high-quality, comprehensively equipped site with a superb beach providing 800 well-shaded, marked and numbered pitches with 6A electricity available. These include 80 large pitches of 100 sq.m. Tour operators and seasonal units occupy some 250 pitches. This well-managed site has a lot to offer for family holidays, with much going on in the high season when it gets crowded. The swimming pool complex (with a lifeguard) is free to campers, and the superb beaches are cleaned daily from mid-June to mid-September.

Two beach exits lead to the main beach, where there are some undertows, or if you turn left, you will find a reasonably placid estuary. An unusual feature here is the nature park within the site boundary, with a selection of animals to see. This overlooks a protected area of marsh where European birds spend the winter.

Restaurant and bar. Takeaway (July/Aug). Swimming pools, and bathing caps are compulsory (high season). Entertainment organised with a soundproofed pub/disco (July/Aug). Gym park. Tennis. Playground. Riding. Fishing. Nature animal park. Hairdresser (July/Aug). Medical centre. Torches are necessary in some areas. Animals are not accepted. WiFi on part of the site (charged).

Directions to Camping Playa Joyel

From A8 (Bilbao-Santander) take km. 185 exit and N634 towards Beranga. Almost immediately turn right on CA147 to Noja. In 10 km. turn left at multiple campsite signs and go through town. At beach follow signs to site.
