Alan Rogers Review
Camping La Bergerie site is nestled in the heart of the Gaves valley near Argelès-Gazost. The water park is the pride of the site. Children and adults just love to have fun in the outdoor swimming pool with toddler pool and 58-metre waterslide, while parents relax in the bubble benches, the jacuzzi and the whirlpool. The high Pyrenees is a paradise for nature lovers and the great outdoors. The site offers various cycle routes and an entertainment programme if you are interested. The area has so much to offer you, gastronomy, the rich cultural heritage of towns and villages, tourist resorts, traditions, sports, leisure activities and always within beautiful green mountain landscapes. Argelès (the upper town) and Gazost (the lower town) is the gateway to Lavedan, ideal for their geographical location, in the heart of one of the most beautiful regions. It is also a spa town. The site has 105 grass touring pitches with electric hook-up points 2 to 6 amps; seasonal units occupy 54. There are also several privately owned mobile homes as well as 25 mobile homes and lodge tents available to hire.
Adjacent to the site is the animal park of the Pyrenees which houses chamois, foxes, squirrels, and the highlight of the show, the marmots. Further on, Le Donjon des Aigles, in Beaucens, is home to birds of prey from all over the world in the converted ruins of an old feudal castle. Argelès Gazost is the starting point in the nature reserve of the Pibeste-Aoulhet massif or the Hautacam massif. You will also have opportunity to visit the village of Saint-Savin, the Romanesque abbey of the 11th and 12th centuries.
