Alan Rogers Review of Camping la Bastide
La Bastide is a spacious and attractive site bordering the River Hers (children need to be supervised as access to the river is unfenced) and only a short walk away from Mazère. A variety of trees provide ample shade for the 127 pitches, 91 for touring and the remainder occupied by mobile homes and chalets to rent. The pitches are level, grassy and separated by hedges and trees; most have electricity (10A) and water. In peak season, activities are organised every day except Saturday for all the family to enjoy.
The site has a rural feel, being surrounded by meadows where goats and donkeys graze. Colourful bee eaters can be seen swooping over the river, and peacocks heard calling in the distance. Although there is no shop on site, all necessities are available in Mazère. La Bastide is a good starting point for exploring the region. The medieval cities of Foix, Carcassonne, Toulouse, and for the gourmet, Castelnaudary, the capital of cassoulet, are all less than one hour’s drive.

Six small adequate toilet blocks, one reserved with accessible facilities. Laundry. Motorhome service point. Bar, snack bar/takeaway (July/Aug). Swimming and paddling pools (July/Aug). Play area. Boules. Basketball. Tennis. Volleyball. Activities (July/Aug). Games area. Canoeing and fishing on the river. WiFi.
Directions to Camping la Bastide
From the A66 take exit 2 then the D14 and then D624 to Mazère. In the centre of town, turn southeast on D11 towards Belpech. In 400 m site is signed on left.
