Alan Rogers Review
This is a small site with about half the pitches occupied by static caravans, used by their owners for weekends and holidays. The 70 or so places available for touring units are not marked out but are generous in size without overcrowding. Ten pitches have been upgraded to full comfort and weather-resistant surfaces added to others. Most places are on level grass with two small terraces at the end of the site. There is little shade but the site is set in a river valley with trees on the hills which enclose the area. Electricity is available for all pitches but long leads may be required in parts.
Camping Grassi would make a useful overnight stop en route for the Kandersteg railway terminal where cars can join the train for transportation through the Lotschberg Tunnel to the Rhône Valley and Simplon Pass, or for a longer stay to explore the Bernese Oberland, Lake Thun, Lake Brienz and Interlaken all being within easy reach. An electric car with a 70 km. range and electric bikes can now be hired.
The well constructed, heated sanitary block is of good quality. Washing machine and dryer. Gas supplies. Motorhome services. Communal room with TV. Kiosk (July/Aug). Indoor and outdoor play areas and play house. Mountain bike hire. Fishing. E-bike and E-car hire. WiFi (free).
Take Kandersteg road from Spiez and leave at Frutigen Dorf exit. Enter main street and turn left opposite Hotel Simplon from where site is signed.Link to campsite location map on google
