Occupying an elevated position on the edge of town, near the French border, this site is run by the local camping and caravan club. It's set on a hilltop and shaded by a variety of trees. Of the 150 grass pitches, 102 are for tourers, the remainder being occupied by seasonal units. There are some gravel pitches set aside for one night stays, plus four all-weather pitches for motorhomes. All pitches have 16A electricity and TV points.

Esch has a good range of shops, bars and restaurants, some pleasant parks and interesting churches, and the Museum of the Resistance is well worth a visit. The city of Luxembourg is a short drive to the northeast; or if you would rather leave the car behind, the site operates its own minibus to the nearby railway station for visits to the city. The border with France is just down the road, if you fancy a taste of French cuisine or a trip to a French supermarket. Alternatively, Belgium is only a few kilometres to the west.

Directions to Camping Gaalgebierg

Esch is 18 km. southwest of Luxembourg City. Site is signed from centre of town. From motorway take exit 5 for Esch Centre but at T-junction in 1 km. avoid town centre by turning left (Schifflange) then right after railway crossing, ahead at traffic lights and follow signs to site at top of hill.
