Alan Rogers Review of Camping Ensoya
Camping Ensoya is situated on the edge of Sigean, a 14th-century Languedoc border town, now best known for its famous African animal reserve, echoed in the site’s range of safari tents to rent. There are 232 pitches in total, (up to 150 sq.m), some taken by mobile homes and tents, leaving 189 for tourers. Most have electricity. Pitches are on level grass with new hedging and mature trees providing some shade. The site has use of the town’s municipal pool adjacent, and there are shops and restaurants in the town.
The nearest beaches are at Port-la-Nouvelle, 7 km. distant. The site is also close to the Etang de Bages, which provides excellent conditions for windsurfing. Sigean’s Réserve Africaine is one of France’s premier wildlife parks, and is home to over 3,000 African animals. The park has both drive-through and walking areas. Another popular attraction is the new Terra Vinea centre at Portel-des-Corbières, an animated presentation of local wine growing culture.
