Alan Rogers Review of Camping du Vieux Château
Camping du Vieux Château is located in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards and adjacent to the fortress town of Rauzan. It is an ideal starting point for walking and cycling along small tracks through the vineyards, and for day trips. The flat, grassy 2.6-hectare site has about 80 well-shaded pitches, many with views of the château. There are 48 pitches for touring (25 with 6/A electricity); some are rather uneven and require long leads. Mobile homes, cottages and bungalows are available to rent. There are swimming and paddling pools plus a jacuzzi.
The village with all the usual shops and bank is within walking distance via a path from the site. The owner also provides breakfasts to order. Families with young children should be aware of the unfenced water ditch on northern edge of site.

The traditional sanitary block is kept clean and offers some washbasins and preset showers in cubicles. Facilities for babies and accessible facilities. Washing machine. Washing line. Small shop (June/Sept, bread to order). Bar, snack bar and takeaway. Heated outdoor swimming pool and children’s pool (May-Sept). Play area and mini farm. Television. Small library. Outdoor sports area. Boules. Communal barbecue. Electric barbecues to hire (charcoal not permitted). Mobile homes and chalets to hire. Free WiFi on part of site. Max. 1 dog.
Directions to Camping du Vieux Château
From Libourne, join D670 towards St Emilion and Castillon-la-Bataille. At St Laurent-des-Combes turn right towards Sauveterre-de-Guyenne. At sign for Rauzan turn right onto D231. Campsite is signed from the village.
