Camping du Pont de Bourgogne is a well-presented and cared-for site, useful for an overnight or extended stay to explore the local area. It is close to the A6 autoroute, and the attractive market town of Châlon-sur-Saône is within 2 km. The site is over 3.3ha with 100 mainly level pitches (90 sq.m), all with 10A Europlug, most on grass, but 30 have a gravel surface. Pitches are large, well spaced out, separated by beech hedging, and a variety of mature trees provide shade. Many pitches overlook the river, an excellent spot to watch the passing boats, and a cycle route runs alongside. Access is easy for large outfits.

The sanitary facilities are clean and modern and cater for the entire family. There are also ten mobile homes to rent on-site. The bar, restaurant and terrace are close to the entrance and overlook the river. Across the river is a large municipal swimming pool, and a golf club and sailing club are within 1 km. Takeaway meals are available from the bar all season, but the restaurant is open only in July and August.

The site gets crowded in the third week of July during the Châlon Street Theatre Festival. This site is in a central location for touring Burgundy and is part of the C’est Si Bon group of high-quality sites, it is located in Chalon Sur Saone, the second largest city in Burgundy and on the banks of the river.

The city is famous for the invention of the Photograph, Nicephore Niepce and houses a museum dedicated to him and his work. The city itself is walkable from the site and is very traditional with some very picturesque narrow streets, however within a 5-minute drive is a very large commercial centre with an excellent selection of supermarkets, big brand name shops, fast food outlets and competitively priced fuel with car washing facilities, handy for stocking up prior to returning to the U.K.

Three sanitary blocks, two of which are superb modern buildings, are kept very clean and have high-quality fittings, including a children’s bathroom, an accessible bathroom and a family shower. Motorhome services. Laundry facilities. There is no shop, but essentials are kept in the bar (bread to order). Modern bar/restaurant (July/Aug). Simple play area. Bicycle hire arranged. WiFi (free in the bar). Chalets for rent, one adapted for those with reduced mobility.

From A6 exit 26 (Châlon-Sud), take N80 (signed Dôle) to second roundabout. Take fourth exit (signed Roseraie) and fork right (les Chavannes). At traffic lights turn right (signed Roseraie) under bridge to site entrance 500 m.
