Situated in the small town of Mercus just 1 km. from the N20 between Foix and Andorra, this is a lovely campsite on the shores of a lake, devotedly run by Jacky and Martine Podvin. The site has 70 pitches (38 for touring and 22 chalets and mobile homes to rent). The grassy pitches are attractively laid out, level and partially shaded by mature trees. Each has electricity (6/10A; Europlug) adjacent and all are reasonably close to the modern sanitary blocks. There is some background road noise and also several trains run alongside the site throughout the day between 06.00-22.00.

Central on the site is a good size swimming pool which utilises an environmentally friendly heat exchange system to heat the water. Canoes are available for hire on site and fishing is permitted in the adjacent lake. For more adventurous watersports enthusiasts, the Base Nautique, just 1 km. away, provides facilities for canoeing, kayaking, rafting, sailing and cable water-skiing in July and August.

Two modern sanitary blocks are well equipped. One also has accessible facilities and a family shower room with a baby bath. Motorhome services. Cold drinks and ice-cream available in reception building in July/Aug. Bread, sandwiches (hot and cold) and pizzas (July/Aug). Good sized heated swimming pool. Small play area.

Directions to Camping du Lac Mercus

From the N20 between Foix and Andorra take exit 14 to Mercus which is only 1 km. Site is signed in Mercus and is on the right 300 m. after the town centre.
