Le Grand Cerf is a small, rural, former municipal site situated in the Rhone valley between the Ardeche and the Isere. It was purchased by the present owners, Cécile and Laurent, who both speak good English and provide a warm welcome.

Of the 60 terraced pitches, 31 are available for tourers, some with electricity (6/10A). A handful are fully serviced. Most pitches are hedged and shaded by mature trees and a little uneven. Many are sloping, so levelling is necessary. There are six flat open pitches without electricity. The bar/restaurant is welcoming, with a wood-burning fire and comfortable seating in addition to the eating area.

There is much to explore in the region; a ten-minute drive will take you to Hauterives, which has shops, restaurants and a weekly market.

There are stunning views over the valley, and the village is only a few minutes walk. The pool and large sports areas provide plenty of on-site activity. A number of chalets and mobile homes are available to rent.

The sanitary block has roomy preset showers and some washbasins in cubicles. Accessible facilities, One washing machine and three sinks (cold water). Shop. Bar/restaurant and takeaway (all season). Heated outdoor pool and paddling pool (seasonal). Tennis. Basketball. Mini football. Pétanque. Play area. Bicycle hire. WiFi.

Directions to Camping du Grand Cerf

South from Lyon on A7 leave at J12, (or N7) and take D519 heading east. Take the D538 south to Hauterives and turn left at the roundabout onto D51. After 8 km. turn left onto D66 from where site is signed.
